How do you clean your kit?

I have an alesis burst kit. I dust it once a month but it's still getting a "dusty" tinge, and especially the cymbals. The hihat is getting a white impression( due to hitting it at the same place I guess) and since they're rubber im afraid to put water on them. Any suggestions?

So is it logical of me to try to make them look clean as new? I mean i can collect most of the surface dust, but its the tinge of dust that's bothering me. So, should i actually press the pad with damp cloth? Is that safe? Or will there always be a certain amount of dust?

Okay i get what you're saying. Yeah they were super shiny before, anyways thanks for all the input. I want mesh so bad, i mean rubber is super annoying sometimes but since im not planning for this to be my primary kit i got the cheapest one i could get(they came with throne and headphones too!). But seriously thanks!

I clean the shells but not the cymbals. My shells are black so they collect a big amount of dust. The cymbals are getting grey over time but as long as it does not effect triggering I'm fine with that.

Yeah im not too worried about cymbals, since they are a bit more flexible kind of rubber they are bound too gather dust. But since the pads are rock solid the dust might fly into me too, and plus dusty pads look way worse. Whats your kit btw?

A drum-tec jam, it's basically a converted acoustic kit. I use it together with a td17, which is connected to my laptop triggering ssd5.

With a swiffer

I've used a vinyl cleaner, for car interiors. Did a small area first to make sure it wouldn't destroy it, and then went at it. Used it on an Alesis Nitro, older rubber pad kind before I sold it. Cymbals and pads cleaned up great.

I like Meguiar’s vinyl/rubber cleaner/conditioner.

A cloth rub down every now and then to keep the dust off, and maybe once a month with the Meguiar’s to prevent dry rot.

Cymbals, rims, plus all the plastic bits.

Just wipe with a damp cloth. Every so often I’ll clean the cymbals then put rubber protectant on them which brings out the shine and in theory helps maintain their condition.

I'm not too worried about the cymbals tbh, but i did dust with a damp cloth but im afraid of exerting too much pressure or getting the pad damaged due to extra wetness.
