In the early-mid nineties he 1) made interviews all about himself 2) had that trashy Long Island accent 3) was too obnoxious for my personal taste.
The best Howard was the late 90’s-Artie leaving Howard. He was funny without being obnoxious, was learning to be a great interviewer, and made the show more about the whole crew.
He’s older now, and if he was saying the same shit/doing the same act that he did in his 40’s he’d sound like a total douche. You guys would then be getting on him because he was “living in the past”, and not acting his age. Angry ppl will always find a reason to be angry.
At this point and esp in this quarantine version of the show I’ll take and be happy with his interviews. He can’t use the other ppl on the show the same way over Zoom, and that’s why these shows are awkward.
