[Spoilers] Knowing about “the earpiece” makes lapses of judgement in S3 even more egregious

Spoiler

How the hell does >!Rehoboam tell Serac everything to say and do!< and they lose?

For example, simple things that could’ve stopped Dolores: (1) giving all Incite’s guards aim-bot equipment, (2) two-factor authorization literally anywhere, (3) remote log off for users.

I like this show but some things are hard to overlook.

EDIT: I know Dolores is an outlier, so her actions are unpredictable. But Rehoboam knows she's an enemy. Why not improve Incite's security protocols? Hell, why didn't Incite have the things I mentioned above before Dolores? My work email has two-factor authorization

Dolores was always the outlier that was their weak spot. The system didn’t know what to do with her.

Here’s the thing: (1) the things I listed aren’t that out there to have. Every company I’ve worked at has two-factor authorization. (2) Once Dolores appeared on the board, why not account for everything? At the very least beef up security.

What’s the difference in serac Redding rehoboam predictions and becoming his mouthpiece?

There isn’t. Dolores was an outlier that they couldn’t predict regardless of how Rehoboam communicated his plan to serac

To me, the difference is now knowing Rehoboam had fine control over Serac, and Serac doesn't go off script. So, "human error" isn't as much of a possibility.

Even if Dolores is an outlier, once Rehoboam became aware of her, security should've been improved at least the extent I said above.

There wasn’t really human error tho since serac was always portrayed as just going along with rehoboam.

Also, maybe after Maeve took control of the auto guns earlier in the season they decided that wasn’t a good idea?

That's my point. Before, I could chalk security issues up to human error. After tonight, I can't. An advance AI should've discovered basic holes in security long before Dolores.

Only Maeve has that power, and she didn't use it until ep. 4. Serac's/Incite's men didn't have auto aim in ep.1.

I think people are misunderstanding prediction capacities and defense's strategy. An AI, even though incapable of prediction about the opponent, can still build strategies to overcome a potential danger.

For example: It's beyond reason, for me, that Rehoboam/Serac was/were so dumb. They knew Liam was kidnapped by Dolores (really happening, without the necessity of prediction), and, still, didn't take measures to prevent his money beeing stealed?! It doesn't make any sense. Even in our real world it wouldn't happen.

The only way to make sense of it, to my mind, is that Rehoboam surmised Dolores's plan almost immediately, decided that it agreed, and willingly let itself be destroyed to spite its creator.

I noticed that they basically copied and pasted the Machine/Root and Samaritan/Greer thing from Person of Interest. In fact there was a lot about Rehoboam that was basically just pasted over from PoI. While it's a theme I find very interesting, they could have come up with a new direction.

I think you’re missing the point. Dolores and the outliers (Caleb) were the only things Rehoboam couldn’t predict

No. I understand about outliers. You're missing my point. Let's put it another way.

You can't predict everything everyone will do, but you lock your doors at night anyway, right? B/c you're smart enough to know there's a possibility someone could try and break in.

My issue is a super AI that runs countless scenarios doesn't cover general bases. The things I listed would be good to have regardless if Dolores existed. Given that she does, and Rehoboam sees her as a threat, even if Rehoboam couldn't predict her exact move, maybe it should lock the door at night.
