You say they are left leaning companies cos they have gay characters... guess what? They arent leftie companies and the people complaining about tlou 2 didnt complain cos there were gay characters in the game. So what does that tell you? Well, first there's no homophobia as those characters haven't been protested against. Secondly those games haven't had any complaints about shoe horning propaganda in their games because they don't... their games and characters are good and very well recived.

Seeing as we've established those facts we can see that actually it's not the right or anti sjws as you call them who are should have games made for them it the other way around.

Imagine if a game was created as a totally sjw experience, centered around that and totally marketed as such... no one would buy it, not even sjws cos their not gamers and they don't but the products they lay claim to.

That's why ND marketed this game all about Ellie and Joel. Cos they no that this fake activism doesn't make bank. It's that simple.

They know if they had said this new story centered around a new androgynous 'female' character and her vengeance against ellie and Joel it wouldn't sell.

For me, the issue isn’t having any character of any sexual orientation, race, or any diverse background the writers wish to introduce to the story.

The problem arises when they take an established franchise, where people have established expectations, and introduce or completely change characters or story for no plot-driven or character-development purpose other than introducing diversity in their story.

Now, that may be something a lot of people could accept if, while doing so, they didn’t disrespect established characters and plot which “happen” to be men and butcher their story, paint them as useless or dumb characters.

This induces an “us vs. them” mentality that naturally doesn’t sit well with anyone. You either embrace the diverse characters and new story and accept that suddenly your protagonist is a disposable, useless prop or you are closed-minded (or more insulting adjectives).

We have seen this happen countless times with franchises like Star Wars, Terminator, Ghostbusters, etc. and all it does is polarize the fanbase, inspire hatred between fans, produce disappointing sales numbers, and push more people to reject diversity instead of embracing it, which is the exact opposite of what they intend.

I know a lot of people take this chance to insult other people that don’t agree with their opinions (and I strongly disagree with that), but I do see a fair point when the fan backlash strikes, as they are hurt and disappointed that their characters/story have to suffer for this forced introduction of political views outside the narrative of their game/movie.
