This is why I like Mutualism, and Anarcho Mutualism.
Our idea of Altruism is Mutualism.
No one would help another for no reason other than to benefit as well.
Anarcho Mutualists are Anarcho Capitalists pretending to be anything else.
They even have their own currency and respect private property until it's the right time to steal it, when it's not being guarded.

If you would not be altruistic if it didn't benefit you, it's not altruism. You do it for the reward to yourself, thus your egoism - self. LR isn't altruism.
By the same token, when forced it's also not altruism. Same principle but the other half of the equation is affected, as the null becomes punishment, which you want to avoid by being altruistic. Your motive is still egoism in wanting to avoid the punishment. AL is not altruism.
Altruism can always exist, some systems make it easier than others, and some cultures encourage it more than others. AuthRight's argument, if taken as-is with the darwinist bend, should be that it shouldn't exist. I've seen the 'altruism is a mental disorder' reasoning on this very sub.
