When I think of this area, I think of Kaguya. And that makes me sad 😥 one of the saddest gaming moments I've experienced

All good

Damn straight. Most of this game is beautiful. The charm of older generation games is great, realistic looking games are no interesting to look at. There's a Alfred Hitchcock quote about it but I can't seem to find it.

I was afraid of that cohesive present beauty sprinkled throughout some RPGs being lost for a long time. Then I played Dragons Quest XI and Octopath Traveler. Both have demos and I can't recommend them enough once you're done with Okami. It helps fill the hole knowing you've reached the credits. Or I'm assuming it will. I'm only at the point where you cross the bridge into the city. Anyway, Octopath is a timed demo. Recommend Primrose, Therion, or Hannit if you're more into serious stories. Cyrus, Tressa, or Ophelia for more light hearted stuff. Olberic I found a bit bland. It's a very adult game with loaded, mature themes. But the writing is so good. Dragons Quest is more traditional, but is fantastically impactful and emotionally moving when you least expect it. Tim Rogers has some good reviews on it from YouTube. 😊

Dragons Quest XI and Octopath are also very rich in beauty both in story and world building. They have free demos. Tim Rogers has a funny review of DQ XI.

I think this location is partly based on the real life Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
