allow-run-as-root on ubuntu shell, now cpu always as 100%

Hi,

I have a PC with windows 10 and I installed an Ubuntu shell with ubuntu 17, then I run a simulation, on openfoam, with the comand "mpirun -allow-run-as-root ..." for the processors, because it is the only way to run a parallel simulation on an ubuntu shell with that program. Now if I use windows, without starting the ubuntu shell, the processors are always at 100% even if i do anything.
Is this caused by the "allow-run-as-root"? Do you know a way to fix it? I watched some guide on youtube on how to resolve this problem but nothing worked

I can't give you all information because the computer is turned off and at my work place, and I can't access it because of smartworking. I used that command because of a "dude trust me, nothing bad will happens" colleague...

but maybe it was caused by linux system, and it is more probably that someone in this subreddit knows what allow-run-as-root can do than someone in windows subreddit; if allow-run-as-root is not the cause of the problem I move to r/windows

The problem persists after you close the Ubuntu shell?

If so it's a r/windows problem

yes it persists. Thanks, now I know it is not caused by ubuntu shell.

According to this man page, when the --allow-run-as-root option is used, mpirun won't refuse to run as root. They advise against using this, but it seems unlikely that it would cause the problem you're describing.

But running something that needs MPI in WSL seems strange.

I installed an Ubuntu shell with ubuntu 17

I think you need to expand on that...

If you mean you booted into Ubuntu, then later rebooted to windows and had the issue, then it's not sounding like a Ubuntu issue.

Unless you are referring to the windows WSL2 feature.

I haven't explained properly. I installed a shell for ubuntu 17 on windows 10, it is only the terminal, not a virtual machine.

That is Windows Subsystem for Linux which is needed to run the Ubuntu terminal.

WSL2 has replaced it.

There are subs for the wsl tools.

It's a bit unusual compared to a normal Linux install
