Switching from a high-end Windows laptop to a used MacBook Pro on a tight budget: what are my options?

Hi,

Two years ago I bought a high-end Windows laptop, with an Intel Core i7 8th Gen processor. I eventually maxxed it out by upgrading the RAM to 12GB. It's probably the most expensive piece of tech I've bought, but video editing wasn't that smooth and the enclosure isn't durable at all. Now the battery has died and needs to get replaced, but the part itself is leaning towards €100. So I'm honestly done. I switched to the Apple ecosystem with the new iPad and the SE 2020, so to make it complete I want a MacBook Pro.

Searching for deals on used MacBooks on eBay and Marktplaats in The Netherlands is a nightmate. Most have staingate issues that aren't covered under warranty, and I will not use Listerine, because I always mess up. Also, some have worn out battery cycles.

How do I pick a used MacBook that will serve me well for 5 years and can handle programs for content creation (Adobe, DaVinci Resolve)? What models are still powerful in 2020 to do the job? What issues do I have to look out for? What can I find used for €550 max?

Thanks!
