How do I deal with Doomrockets?

Warhammer II

Seriously, how?

Like, I've lost practically three armies now to doom rockets just.. deleting half my army.

I picked up the game after a long break when I saw a new mod that added a bunch of lost races to the game like chaos dwarves and Albion and so. I picked up Estalia because I was feelin' for a bit of pike and shot and they just play well to it, more than the empire with light cannons and better handguns as well as actual pikes. But when I marched on Ikit I remembered why I gave up a good stint and what had sunk Dwarf, Empire and Brettonnia campaigns. Fucking. Doomrockets.

They just nuke my shit. I form up in a battleline and I lose my core to a giant nuke I can't do a damn thing about. I spread out, I get swarmed and am unable to properly hold a line to getting flanked and rear-charged. When I reassamble to try to hold a line, I get nuked. Its just... frustrating to fight. I can't even find a mod that just.. gets rid of that feature.

What do? I want to love this game like I did before Ikit but I just can't with his fucking bullshit rockets.

The issue with doomrockets is that ikit claw keeps making them and getting them over the course of the campaign, but absolutely will never use them in battles vs the ai, so a late game clan skyre army might have more nukes than the US armed forces

Autoresolve doesn’t use consumables.

Unless those consumables are bloated corpses.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I think you could give AI autoresolve different rules to normal autoresolve to skirt around this, though

I'd guess with the greenskins update it will be easier to just pull a bait army together and let ikit nuke them while your main army smashes them after the rocket was deployed

I'm afraid the answer is to just not form a battleline. You will likely loose a couple of units, but if you keep units in blocks with a good distance from each other, then you shouldn't lose more than two. Only start gathering your men together when you get into contact with the skaven. At least then they will nuke their own forces as well.

Cant you shut off the dlc with Ikit claw in it?

No, the AI has access to the units even if you dont own the DLC.

Didn’t know that

I've never seen him use a second nuke against me, it's like once he's used the one he starts with, he never makes another, so maybe send a kamikaze "army" in first, with only melee units, so when he uses it, it hurts his army as much as yours. Alternatively, keep your line spread out- thin, wide units (also mitigates damage from their artillery), with big gaps in between. Unless you're Bretonnia, you'll be at a leadership advantage. The best way is to get him to waste it on a single entity unit like a steam tank, lord or hero, which will take considerable damage but will probably survive. Do this by hiding the rest of your units in a forest until he's shot his load.

He can only use one doom rocket per battle, same as a player using Ikit

Single entities take almost no damage from doomrockets unless it's a direct hit, then they get demolished. Otherwise they take like 70 damage.

Only ways are: autoresolve, spreading out your units to the max, or sending out a unit (particularly a single entity) on it's own to get nuked. Some factions also have summons which can come in handy when they nuke your summoned unit.
