Which NL players are you targeting with the DH likely happening this season?
Might the Dodgers let Joc run loose? Maybe Cespedes can come back and take without worrying about getting hurt in the outfield?

Kevin Cron
One of the Mets’ many left fielders, Howie Kendrick, Riley, one of the Reds’ many outfielders.
Joc has always been a platoon because he straight up cant hit lefties. Idk if the DH will give him too many more ABs than he would have gotten otherwise.
Nyjer Morgan
Tony Plush*
Sam Hilliard?
Top of my list
Do we like Hilliard or Trent Grisham more?
Grisham
Braun for sure. Dude gets worn out in the field. DHing in a shortened season could show great value.
Agreed but I still think injury risk is real with him. He tweaks his back regularly swinging that I don't think DH vs 1b makes much of a difference.
Never Braun
Dominic Smith looked pretty good last year. Maybe Braun?
Aristedes, Shogo
Will Myers.
Garrett Cooper
Austin Riley
I see people mention Riley so often... what makes folks think he is fixed from shattered pieces of a player he was in the 2nd half?
I understand he was an absolute MONSTER upon arrival, but then the league figured him out and he was trash, right? Like really hot smelly bad bad no please no bad trash.
I don’t understand the assumed growth in the guy.
It’s simply because the potential and pedigree are there. It’s not unusual at all for rookies to have a rookie season like that. They get adjusted too and it take a bit for them to adjust back. Doubly true for power hitters with high k rates.
It’s not people assuming he will grow and adjust, it’s that playing fantasy baseball is about looking for ceilings. Riley has quite a high ceiling. He needs to adjust and to do that he needs major league at bats. The DH greatly increases the at bats for him and if he does figure it out that’s a ceiling that can win a league.
Not to mention he'd potentially occupy a spot in what should be a rather productive Braves lineup.
Good thing is this year there is no second half
He needs to make real strides in hitting off speed pitching if he is going to be a valuable contributor. Sitting fastball worked for a while, but he got a solid stream of sliders the second half and he looked bad.
Dylan Carlson
Cespedes
Smoak is a good late round pick in OBP leagues
Or Braun or Avisail Garcia. Those three were probably splitting time at 1b and LF but are now likely to all be everyday starters
AJ Pollock should see a significant bump in ABs, moving from the weak side of a platoon to more regular spot. The guy has always been a solid per-AB hitter, if he can stay on the field.
Jon Berti hasn’t been mentioned enough in these convos
I had him at the end of last year, he was so clutch. Even with the DH not sure he necessarily has a clear path to playing time. Dude is 30 years old
Yeah I like what he did last year and want to believe (don’t believe in the Marlins hitting depth) and they were talking about finding him at bats before the season got delayed. Cheap speed and avg could be great, but I’m def playing wait and see in terms of his at bats. Could jump ship if they don’t materialize early.
Yeah just keep in mind a week may be 1/10th of the season, not a lot of time for trial periods
Yah short leashes all around like we’re at a dominatrix’s house party
Braun seems to be the popular pick along experts. The Brewers won't have to compromise playing him in the outfield and can put an actual first baseman at first while he DHs. It's kind of a win win for them.
Fuck Braun.
As a Cubs fan I concur wholeheartedly, I hate that guy... But as a fantasy baseball manager he's a pretty good late round pick now that the DH will be universal in a short season.
Also a Cub fan. Fuck that cheater/crocodile tear/Jabroni. He blamed everyone but himself, publicly. He can eat it.
Schwarber moves up
Never understood people saying this, Schwarber played 155 games last year and had 610 PA, him moving to DH won’t change anything. He was going to play full time regardless.
As a Cubs fan, no he doesn't. He was actually an above average fielder last year and was essentially a full time player already. He might be a better hitter this year than last because of not needing to worry about defense, or maybe he was going to be better anyways and defense has nothing to do with that. Or maybe he won't be better at all.

I’m a Cubs fan too and I agree he’ll play full time, like last season, but he was definitely a negative defender. He was about average in 2018 because of a lot of outfield assists, but last year he was abysmal.
-10 OAA (14th worst fielder in baseball, 8th worst outfielder), -3 DRS, and -0.9 UZR. He wasn’t average or positive by any metric
The Cubs have literally nobody else to play in left field. Schwarber doesn't suck in the outfield anymore. His value is not raised one iota because of the DH.
Wrong
You wanna elaborate on that? Haha. You could put Bryant in left and who goes to third? David Bote? No thanks. Maybe Ian Happ? Then who plays center? Jason Heyward? Pass on that, he's not a good defender in center. Albert Almora is basically unplayable at this point. Souza is nothing more than replacement level now. There aren't a lot of other options in left. Schwarber is a league average defender in left with a big bag, he is the everyday left fielder.
My guess is that Caratini will DH when not catching. Next would be the handful of guys they have to play 2B.
Josh naylor & franchy cordero
Franchy is so stupidly talented. Injuries have robbed the league of a dynamic, albeit unpolished player the last couple seasons. Mammoth raw tools.
Agreed 💯
Pickup Grisham instead.
Still JD Davis.
With everybody targeting him I get the feeling that he's going to end up overpriced
I get the enthusiasm about him, but weren’t the Mets going to play him like 140 games anyway?
Yeah he hit way too well not to be in the lineup every day. The DH is more likely to help Dom Smith, Cespedes, or Lowrie
Managers do stupid things. Mets have a new 1. You never know. Jose Martinez is a pretty good comp imo. Cards didn't play him enough and he's a top 10 contact hitter (w decent power) in the league imo
