Ok, so I know this sounds bad, but this honestly looks like someone’s attempt to deal with mental health. It looks like they have written their stresses out on a plate. It’s possible that they meant to just leave it, or that they used a medium that could be broken (it looks like they had plans for something June 15th?

Anyway, I’m not condoning intentionally leaving broken dish ware in a public place, but 1) we don’t know if it was left broken and 2) it’s just one plate and not really hurting anyone (there are much bigger things). 3) added bonus, the person isn’t throwing them off of a balcony about 3 floors down, which btw, was the fastest HPD response I have ever seen; so the person isn’t assaulting anyone.

Note, after my mom died, I did stuff like yelling in a forest, breaking shit, it was all very cathartic.. I did not break shit in a forest, but I can at least have empathy for this person.

Empathy for their need to vent I have - what is disturbing is that they have chosen to achieve personal catharsis by a) introducing non-biodegradable rubbish to a posted nature sanctuary and b) felt they had ANY right to leave ANY rubbish in a posted nature sanctuary. I walk regularly and the harm done by the people and/or pets that leave the posted trails and drop rubbish as they go is alarming, escalating and causing wildlife of all descriptions real harm. I habitually walk with (biodegradable) garbage bags in my pocket and shockingly often fill more than one on a simple walk, merely by picking up the obvious dreck left by some self-absorbed idiots. By all means vent. Studies have shown that writing out your issues, then breaking the plate or burning the paper has a measurable, if temporary, benefit. Unfortunately this particular individual chose to walk away from their garbage. It would not have been difficult for them to collect their rubbish and bin it on the way out - a mere 100 feet along the path. They SHOULD be ashamed.

Have you spent any time or met anyone that has done anything remotely bad before? A person leaving a single broken plate in a forest should be not ashamed of themselves, especially when it looks like its mental health related.

Your note is ignorance. This is not a political post. This is calling out a litter dropper for despoiling a public nature sanctuary.
