endogenic, I respect everything you're doing. A bit of critique: the language in the post is too superfluous. Statements like "as I was hit by dozens of profound, sudden, major realizations" remind me of charlatans. I know you're not a bad person, I just don't like seeing you sound like a bad person.

This CCS proposal reminds me of Coral Reef (I'm not sure we got our money's worth). I will still help give XMR towards this CCS. I still believe in investing in the Monero ecosystem even if not everything sticks.

The CTO thing sounds promising.

I appreciate all that you and MyMonero is doing.

Holy cow your post is long, I'm going to just save this comment and take a break before reading more.

I do not think a marketplace application is worth it. I'd like to see the open-souring of MyMonero completely broken out into its own CCS, and even so I would need to review that again.

Edit: fluffy responded, adding some more clarity to the situation. I do not support this proposal.

Idea: throw in a leather-bound copy of the CCS proposal for people who donate 🤓📕📗📘

Thanks Paul for trying to bootstrap this network effect around Monero. I think it is very much needed to transition us from speculation, to more currency like! It is certainly a bold vision, wishing this proposal the best of luck! Upvote

After spending the time to read through this, here are my initial takeaways:

  • The core ask of funding for a CTO to build a marketplace/wallet combo app is interesting, and I would probably be willing to fund it if some changes were made:
    • More clarity on who the CTO is and what he brings to the table
    • More clarity on all of the *super secret* things planned for the future
    • More clarity on why this needs funding by the Monero community if it's a for-profit business that will supposedly be able to raise a seed round from VCs shortly
  • There is a *ton* of superfluous information in the ask that should be cut out
    • I have no idea why all of the dirty laundry around MyMonero was aired in this CCS; it seems both inappropriate and harmful to the CCS proposal and all involved
    • It's *very* long and hard to read, with lots of uncertainty throughout

Overall, the core concept looks interesting and I'd like to know more, but the proposal itself in it's current state is a bit of a mess and is a no from me without some major changes/clarifications.

I personally think making it easier to access globally would be a huge step in the progression of Monero.. I still haven’t been able to invest or join the community as it seems it’s only available to a small group of tech savvy and seasoned investors who know the all the jargon! The average Joe has got no chance.. even after posting my interest to join the community on this forum, I am no closer .. so the result is putting it in the Too Hard Basket and walking away with a feeling of rejection with no real reason to endorse if queried by friends and family.. it’s the ‘secret coin society’ of the crypto community.. How are merchants ever going to navigate the adoption of Monero when you need an IT degree to set up the web wallet? Call tech support? I’m still waiting for some kind of layman instruction step by step guide to miraculously appear 🙏🏽 Hopefully some of you out there can find the time to put something together to help encourage others not so familiar with programming to join and grow the Monero movement.. unless of course it’s meant to be exclusive.. Best of luck

It's a bit easier now than it was a few years back as you can buy directly for fiat from Kraken. Another option is to buy BTC from coinbase and send that to Kraken to buy XMR.

I suppose a good way to think of it is that of it was much easier, you'd probably have missed the boat as a speculator.

IT degree to set up the web wallet?

MyMonero's web wallet is arguably fairly straight forward. If you are incurring any issues, would you mind explaining them in detail?

encourage others not so familiar with programming to join and grow the Monero movement

Have you already looked at this document?

My issues have been with the kleopatra hash verification and the command prompts.. I haven’t been able to download a version where the codes match.. for the GUI web wallet .. I have the. MyMonero mobile wallet installed and kraken, although kraken is taking a while to get my head around .. but your link has shown how to send Ltc via Coinbase to another wallet to buy Monero so I’ll read through the courses and have an attempt at it with a little more knowledge under my belt.. cheers I’ll let you know how it goes!
