I think it's that if you get a housing refund, it means that in part, you met a certain income threshold because you or your parents were well off enough to actually pay a decent amount for housing. Some people pay very little if anything for housing, so they wouldn't get much of a refund back, making them eligible for the grant.

But some people pay for housing through financial aid and loans, especially low-income students. So that shouldn’t disqualify them the help from the CARES award

Yeah I'm not sure why my opinion is so unpopular apparently. It's not as though getting a housing refund is equivalent to the CARES Act. What if I or another student needs to pay rent where they live outside of campus still? People aren't making sense to me

So they just gave us our money back and called it “financial assistance”? Lmao

Kinda unfair in my opinion

Ask them why some people with housing refund(~$3000) still got the CARES act money too lol. Kinda funny

I think it depended also on the other financial aid they got and when they received their deposit.

I have an EFC of 0 and I still didn’t get a CARES refund because I got a housing refund. So it seems unfair that others did get both a housing and cares refund
