How similar is Redwood Regional Park compared to Muir Woods?

I've been to Redwood but never Muir. I want to go to Muir but I've been told it's overrated. I was told that it's basically the same thing except less commercialized and that Redwood is actually better than Muir. Basically get the same experience with less people and not have to pay an entrance fee. Still would like to make it to Muir one day though. Just curious to know opinions.
