State of this Sub: IBMiClasses

This sub is getting spammed and trashed right now. There used to be pretty good discussion on here. Although infrequent, it was really valuable to a relative newcomer like myself.

In the past year though u/IBMiclasses has ruined both this sub and r/AS400 with his spam. Educational content is important and I want to thank him for that. But this has become ridiculous; especially posting content in Hindi.

Can we please ban him or come to some resolution.

Yep, the daily multiple posts have gotten out of hand. I was considering it last week but hearing someone say something tells me I’m not the only one.

Before a ban is placed I would like to put up for discussion recommending them post no more than weekly a single post. That post can be links to multiple videos of course.

Thoughts?

I understand. Maybe my ban suggestion was a little heavy handed but at some point did u/ibmiclasses not look around the sub and think, "I'm really spamming this place" lol.

I'd like to hear what he has to say too. I definitely appreciate his educational content and see it as value added to the community; maybe is there a way to balance it out? The single weekly post of self-content is a good idea.

I’ve sent a pm asking that they limit to once a week.

I’ll for sure keep an eye out.

Cheers

And while this discussion is up could we consider redirecting r/AS400 to r/IBMi

Sorry about that, I'll get with him and figure something out as far as merging the communities. ibmiclasses has been banned from as400 and all his posts removed. I took on the sub when I had a lot more time for smaller communities. I noticed though that none of his posts were reported. It's still my fault, but if I don't see reports from a sub in my r/mod queue, I generally assume it's running smoothly.

Again, sorry for the lack of moderation. Would you like to join the team at r/AS400 until we figure out what to do about a redirect?

Yes I will join the team.

No need to apologize; I also did not report any of the content. Or made any statements about it until now, just my lurking mentality at play. Thanks for your help.

I feel like you’d be skipping r/iSeries and r/Systemi if you did that.

Are the videos any good? I’m currently furloughed so my iSeries Brain is back-burnered... if the videos aren’t great AND they are spam the Ban Hammer should come out. If they have merit a gentle reminder should be the starting point.

Please ban me on Reddit. I will also let you know one thing if posting the education video is spam the make me spam It shows your level of mentality.

For your kind information, Please note that I have already left all the AS/400 groups belongs to Facebook and I don't care for that.

Please don't add me anymore. I don't need your groups to post my content anymore. Please be happy and don't get frustrated.

Thanks
