What was your first time like?
Hi friends!
I am sitting here and browsing my favorite sub. Hehe.
I noticed that most posts are questions to specific areas of pain and advice.
I started thinking about when this first started and figured I'd share my experience.
Around April 2/3 I started getting a heaviness like feeling in my chest. Shrugged it off as indigestion. Not a typical heartburn burn. Just heavy dull pain. Next day the pain started intensifying. Sensation of squeezing and almost like what I called heart grabs. Powered through the pain and thought I was anxiety. That night was a whirlwind of endless doctor Google searches that ended in heart attack and death. The next day I tried to power through it again. Couldn't take the pain anymore and figured the risk was worth the trip to the ER. I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack. The pain was so unbearable. ER did all the tests and scans. Doc says oh you have a slight wheeze here's an inhaler. Two more days pass and it's getting worse. I don't have a fever or anything indicating I am sick. Wait one more day, I'm cold sweating now the pain is crushing and I'm curled up for most of the day. If I walk I get a feeling that my heart is being grabbed and squeezed.
April 9 went to the we again. Begging the doctors to help me because I'm in so much pain. Scans, blood, EKG all done again. Dx with atypical chest pain. Doc gives me atarax for anxiety.
April 12 @11pm this is it I'm going to die. Urgent care this time. This time was given a CT angiogram on top of all the other tests. Doc says, "very mild inflammation on your left lung. Could develope into a pneumonia." Antibiotics, zpack, and some Ativan. Even though my labs all came back good and no sign of infection.
This cocktail alleviated about 50% of the pain. The pain was like a 15/10 when I went in.
A week passes and the pain isn't going anywhere. Finally was dx with costo, advised to take ibuprofen and syretch. told it will take about two weeks to heal. A few days later my primary told me he had it for 7 months.
Found this sub and immediately didn't feel crazy.
So yeah, the pain was excruciating and horrifying. Anxiety made it worse. I lost faith in ER docs. I feel that they all minimized my concern and pain scale because of my history of anxiety/panic attack almost 3 years prior.
Is it only me that felt this way?
