Came out to my parents. I wasn't expecting them to come out to me too
So a few days before my 18th birthday I decided it was time, I was going to be an adult and if it backfired I already had super supportive friends that would help me out if it came to that. I spent the whole night preparing the best way to come out to all my parents, I decided a letter would be best, where I explain what I am (sexuality wise, still haven't told them about the whole genderfliud thing) and I can deal with the backlash after they know the facts not while I explain.
I left the note on their bedside table and waited for them to come home. My stepmother was the first to come home, I informed her of the note which she left to read. After about 4 minutes of anxious waiting she came back out and said "I'm glad I read this first" and if that wasn't the most terrifying moment I've ever had, no clue if it was a good thing or a bad thing. She sat down and told me she was asexual too, she just didn't know there was a name for it. We laughed it off.
My dad read the note after he got home later that night. He walks out and says "I'm so glad you had explained what you were talking about, I had no clue what any of those terms meant." We laughed that off too. And life went on as normal.
My mom got a similar note when I went to her house. Now if I thought what my stepmother did was scary, I was not ready to come back from the store and see my mother, note in front of her, folded hands, sitting at the table, as she said in the most even and controlled tone "we need to talk." Me being a shaking mess at this point sat down. "How do you know you are Asexual?" "What does Panromantic really mean?" Other follow up questions with each answer I gave for almost 10 minutes, I sat being interviewed by my very Christian mother. She ended up being fine with it. She told me about her "experimenting", wish I could erase some of that conversation from my memory.
So, yeah, that was my coming out experience with my parents.
Bonus story
I ended up telling them I have a girlfriend while I was slightly buzzed at a party. We were playing flippy cup and my brother kept failing and said "this is why I don't have a girlfriend." The opportunity was too good to pass up and I said "This is exactly why I have one." And one thing lead to another and they found out about my girlfriend.
