Battery drain in storage?

I have a ~1000Wh battery that went from full to empty after two months in storage. Is this normal for battery packs or indicative of an issue?

My concern is the battery cannot be charged to 50% and stored since it would empty itself after only a couple weeks, and as far as I know storing completely drained cells like this can be very damaging.

Is this common of battery packs?
