I’m getting SUED in my campaign and now I need help!!
Hey everyone. Long post incoming but i need your help.
So I’m getting sued in my D&D campaign and i need help with having a case.
Heres some backstory/context. My party and I have been traveling all over our world looking for 5 Eyes of Chaos that we have to destroy. As a Genasi, its my destiny to destroy these eyes of chaos before the “Sleeping Ones” aka BBEG’s that correspond to each eye gets powerful enough to destroy our world.
When you hold one of these eyes, you are succumbed to a random effect. When i held this particular eye, it caused my mood to swing dramatically from angry to happy.
I went on a solo mission in my main town to get some answers about a girl My character is in to. I found out she was hanging out with a guy named Lewis Faydol (the plaintiff btw) who is a warlock and a d*ck for many other reasons i don’t need to go into detail. So i found him gambling (while on an angry mood swing btw) and approached him to talk to him. Long story short, we gambled for information. If i beat him, he’d give me info. If he won, I’d pay him. After he told me he slept with her and got her pregnant, i just left the place. Right before i exited the door, he said some snarky remark and i threw a dart. The intent was not to hit him, just get really close to him.
I crit missed.......
So i hit him in the arm. Which is still not a big deal. There’s nothing special about the darts. 1d4 damage. He came after me but as a druid, i wild shaped my way out of there so he couldnt see me.
A month later, i receive in my actual mail (my DM is incredible btw) REAL documentation on the charges pressed against me. I got served in real life on my D&D campaign lol.
Now, Lewis is claiming that he is “ unable to continue to work in his livelihood or enjoy the quality of life he had prior to the incident due to a difficult and prolonged healing process as well as untold emotional distress and mental anguish”. Barf
My character is getting charged with assault, battery, defamation (injured reputation for calling attention to a relationship out of wedlock in a public location), and intentional infliction of emotional distress (by behaving in an extreme and outrageous way)
The only case i might have for myself is that i wasn’t of sound mind at the time due to the influence of the eye but other than that, i got nothing.
Any help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also if someone wants to represent me as my lawyer over video chat, my DM is open to that as well! That’d be pretty epic!
Thanks a million!!!
