Bought a new monitor and it goes black during games and videos.

I bought a new monitor that's 2560x1440 and when I play games or videos the screen goes black for a moment and is still allowing me to do stuff on it and it doesn't shift the primary monitor to my second monitor. If I use my HDMI instead of the 1.4 display port and switch my monitor to HDMI compatibility mode it seems to work no issue. I have done every solution I can think of but basically, the 144 hz is being waster because HDMI is locked at max 75 and it cant utilize the max potential of the monitor I am using a Radeon RX 580 and it fairly new. I have tried fresh drivers for the graphics card and monitor, I have tried different ports, I have tried reseating the GPU, I have checked GPU temps to be sure its not overheating and many more and suggestions on what the cause could be or what to try?
