Promoting a maker attitude to promote young people's ability to reuse instead of dispose of common things

I'm developing Training and resources for youth workers around STEAM subjects. I am a youth worker and also a trainer. The circular economy is somthing I want to make central to it. I was to recycle/reuse as much stuff as possible. Iv got motors from cars, switches and fans from a microwave and timber from old pallets. Iv jumped into bins for metal parts and helped take old apartments apart for the timber and hinges. As much as possible I challenge the kids I work with to use all this "junk" to build stuff.

I'm looking for clever ideas that reuse what many see as rubbish to make things. In the process I get to teach the kids all about STEAM and imo the most important thing, how to be curious and comfortable when things don't go to plan.

Can you spare a few minutes and share your opinions and ideas?
