[BoTW] Why does Link have gauntlets like Ganondorf?

I noticed in OOT Ganondorf has a specific pattern on his gauntlets which are similar to the pattern on the champions tunic Link wears in BoTW.

Is it possible that Link's mother could have been a Gerudo and it's related to that or is it something else?
