U8 summary so far.

Discussion

I know people, including myself have been getting performance issues, this is understandable, optimization will surely come. However, I do have more gripes than that.

Firstly, the 'difficulty' the update brings. This is a Skyrim level move of doing difficulty. Not bringing more intelligent and competent AI, but just making them beefier, damage sponges. I found myself hardly being able to make even a slight dent in the armor without risking hitting my hand and breaking it from how hard I had to stab to penetrate it, and I could understand that from metal armor, somewhat, but these were normal leather armoured fools. I don't think this makes the game more difficult. I think it makes it more annoying.

Secondly, the spells feel very underwhelming. I know they aren't fully fleshed out yet, but damn. The Gravity spell worked fine, and was fun to use, but the fire spell seemed overly difficult and looked to have gone anywhere but where I aimed. Lighting is fine, although, to me, it seems to have lost some of its oomph.

The climbing also seems off, I found myself grabbing multiple times for a ledge, to no avail.

The character customization also took a downgrade. Hardly any options, and no options for changing clothing, like I thought there would be. The male models are fine, but the female models just seem off.

I struggle to enjoy this update. It just seems too unpolished. I know everyone was begging for the update, but personally I think KospY shouldve held off on it, to refine it. Still, I know he's with a small group of people, and updates don't always turn out amazing, it happens. I wish him good luck on the game.

Now, discussion. What do you guys think of the update? Are you going to stick with, or move back to U7? Should I move back to U7? Just general discussion, yknow.

EDIT: I realized I lacked any form of positives in my summary. For this I deeply apologize.

Positives

From what I saw of the Citadel, the new map is amazing. Gives me heavy Minas Tirith vibes

Staves are awesome, especially the gravity imbued one. Now I can be Gandalf in VR. Just wish it lasted a little longer.

New models, although lacking in customization, look sick. Love the new armor, though it would be neat to have a way to go back to the original vest and cape, and also more clothes customization of course.

Overall, KospY did good work with this update, but I feel some things may have been rushed, and the community going apeshit with hype probably didn't help.
