Fantasy/fairy tale book published 10+ years ago - 'good knight' in the title possibly. Main character from poor family, training to be a knight - possibly named Will?

I can't really remember the plot, but I was in school (7-10 years old) when two authors came to promote their line of books. The information I remember is in the title. I also remember both authors had the same first name, because they joked about it. One of them signed a copy of one book, 'thank you and...' before the 'Good Knight' title.

Edit to add (thanks to a dream): these were full length novels, possibly suited for young adults/teens. The cover had the main character, he had brown longish hair and I think green eyes... He was reaching out toward the person holding the book (so the artwork was him straight on), toward a crystal ball or something I think!
