Where to get cheap art supplies?

Hi all, I've been in Surfers Paradise the last month and I really miss painting on a canvas (been doing a few on paper and it's just not the same) . I'm a student so I don't really have much money to blow on art supplies, I always got my canvases from cheap dollar stores that were practically all over the place in Sydney but I can't seem to find any. I'm sure they are here but I'm just not seeing them so I was hoping somebody would be able to tell me where I could get some cheap art stuff that is accessible on public transport because I also don't have a car.
