I Love and Hate this Game

This game is really good. In my opinion, it’s the best CoD since BO3 and is one of the best CoDs ever. That being said, there are things that really bug the shit out of me.

How is the game both really balanced but also not? Almost every gun is viable in most engagements but the game is also really heavily slanted towards the M4/MP5/Grau meta. Sure, I can run the MP7 and get 20-30 kills, but I’ll lose every firefight with somebody using an MP5. For me, it’s always shoot first die first against meta players. Even fringe guns like the KAR can be considered meta guns in the hands of a decent player. The worst things to me are the riot shield and C4. I’m probably a little angry because those are 2 things that I’ve never been able to use successfully, but to me they’re another example of how meta-heavy this game can be some times.

The whole recent thing about season 4 really irks me too. I’ll be okay with the delay if the rumors about season 4 revealing CoD 2020 are true, but from where we stand it looks like IW really didn’t have the season ready in time, similar to the gap between seasons 1 and 2. I would say more about this but this topic has been beaten to death the last few days.

Some other things that anger me include: horrible spawns (Shoot House, Shipment, Rust, etc.), abysmal map design (Sawmill, Talsik Backlot, Aniyah Palace/Incursion, etc.), absent customer support, missions not tracking, special ops/co-op getting no love, certain operators getting no love, blueprints favoring meta weapons, and many more I’m sure I’m forgetting.

I really do love this game. When I’m having fun, I never wanna play another game but when I’m not and things feel unfair, this game feels like another disappointing CoD. I think IW has taken massive strides forward with weapon customization and quality of life things but have also never addressed the things that have been plaguing their games for years. I redownloaded BO4 just to fuck around and I found myself having a ton of fun (I’m not saying it’s better, but it is fun in its own way). I know this post will definitely get lost and I know I’m just rambling like a madman, but I want to hear what the rest of the community thinks.
