Is a hand job something special?

My bf of more than two years and I have a very good sex life. We also discuss sexual matters very openly.

However, there is one problem. I absolutely hate giving handjobs! I am scared of hurting his penis, it feels weird when it's in my hand and it's uncomfortable for my wrist. Due to all this it's a big turnoff. I love (giving and receiving) oral, it's very comfortable for me so this inhibition is limited only to hand jobs.

In the beginning of our relationship, he slightly pushed my hand to his dick as a sign that he wants a hand job maybe two or three times, but he soon dropped it, probably seeing my discomfort. I did not say anything during those occasions because I wanted to try it a couple of times and see if I get used to it (many aspects of sex took some getting used to for me and now these things make me super turned on, for example the above mentioned oral). He never mentions hand jobs when we talk about sex/what we would like to try and neither do I.

My questions are the following I guess: do I talk to him about this or do I just leave it be? I find it strange to just bring this up out of the blue but I also sometimes feel that maybe that is a piece of information that he should have being my partner? Also, the question from the title: is a hand job something special that men should have during sex? Because I want him to be satisfied the way I am with our sex life. Is he missing out on so much? I know that this is individual, but I wonder if there is a general consensus.

Thank you for your answers!
