FMIL had a go at FH for not doing the "Man's Chores"

Am I Overreacting?

Obligitory I do not consent to this post being shared anywhere ever. Also on mobile sorry.

I need to find a therapist to complain to I think at this point I use reddit too much.

Basically, it's weekly taking out the rubbish night.

Apparently it's not something I should do, it's something my FH should do because:

"he's the man of the house," "i raised him to be chivalrous to women, like holding doors open for them, walking them home at night, offering to hold their hand when they get out of cars" "it should be just expected of him to do these things he's a man! It's a man's job! I raised him to know the roles of men and women, how it is in my family" "it's traditional"

OK sure.... But this is 2020 im sure chivalry is dead and I don't want to be treated any different than any man.

I took the rubbish out anyway, like I've been helping my FH for literally 2 years now. But it's FH's job.

She told me to see it from her perspective, but I just can't? I don't get how a household chore can be gendered. Is it cause I'm young and don't understand? Is it actually traditional that only the man takes out the rubbish?
