Teemo to climb?

Silver player here, looking to climb to gold before the end of this season (baby steps). Is teemo honestly a good choice to do it with? I love his play style but is it effective to spam him, or should I focus him and keep two back up champs for hard match ups?

Generally any teemo advice for progressing for my elo would be appreciated.
