Do you accept death easier the older you are?

I am 30 years old, and recently my 64 year old father developed an aggressive cancer and passed a month later. It was a shock for me, and I was unable to see him in the hospital because of covid. I never got to ask him how he felt about being moved to palliative and what that meant for his remaining time and I’m so worried that he was scared. At 30 it would scare me.

He had retired in his 50s, enjoyed great health until the last month of life, and raised me and my sister to adulthood. He also was married to my mom for 44 years.

Is this a life well-lived? Maybe he could have been at peace with dying?
