Is the Minecraft on Xbox gamepass supposed to be Minecraft beta?

I downloaded the game off gamepass and when I play it says it's beta. Beta version 1.16.0.66 to be exact... Is this right?

Edit: also, when I try to join my friends game, who also plays on gamepass, it says "outdated server", what's that mean?
