Let's stop with the victimist threads of fear that a person doesn't love ATLA
This kind of thread has been growing lately in this subreddit and also the feelings that anyone who doesn't love it shouldn't even be your friend. I'm an ATLA fan and I find this annoying. This is a problem that all fandoms have to some degree and why I have seen many people online who refuse to engage in conversation within fandoms. More often than not, this victimism, and sometimes even hate saying "anyone who doesn't love it shouldn't be taken seriously" (though of course there are plenty of trolls who just want to piss off fans), scares potential fans away. The problem is more common the more famous the property is. For example, The Beatles are the most famous and acclaimed band in music history, I love them too, but the pressure, arrogance and victimism often common in the fandom makes many people, who otherwise would be just indifferent to The Beatles at worst, actively hate and despise the band forever.
Don't get me wrong: the ATLA fandom is mostly very nice and constructive. This is a great subreddit and almost all threads and comments here are very cool, enriching and thoughtful, I'm proud of being part of this subreddit.
