A Company Verified I Cancelled My Order Over The Phone But Never Sent An Email, Now They Sent The Order and Claim I Owe Them Money

I called to order some items over the phone because their website wasn't working. Company representative was very off putting, so I told them to cancel my order and stop the ordering process. I never gave them any card information or anything to do with my banking information, and they never sent me an email or anything about my phone conversation. I assumed all was taken care of and wiped my hands of the situation.

I just received a box full of the items I did not consent to ordering yesterday morning, and no one is picking up the phone on the other end. This morning they sent me an email claiming I needed to call them because I owe them money, but they are still not answering their phone. I've also sent an email, but have yet to receive an answer.

I'm a bit wary of what could be going on, and I'd appreciate any advice of how to proceed. Is there anything I should do to protect myself legally?
