upgrading from early 2015 13" mbp

Hi there, first time poster so sorry if this is not the right subreddit

After 5 years of owning an early 2015 13 inch mbp w/ 8gm ram (bye bye dongle-free life), I am torn between the base 16" model and the 2020 13" 32gb ram model.

My usual workload consists of many chrome tabs (safari support for apps are just not on par with chrome), Zoom or some kind of video conference, and a virtual machine in the background.

In an ideal world I would just get the base 16", but the portability is a major downside, along with the price. Also, I intend to keep the machine for at least 5 years, so I'm not sure if going with 32gb ram would be a good investment.

Oh, and I also heard that the build quality of the touch bar era mbps tends to be more fragile, and I would love to get your personal experience with your machines.
