Noob Questions about VPNs

Been Looking at getting a VPN for Awhile ,really have no clue about them. was looking for some recommendations currently live in canada. (have heard about Proton and Nord either of these good?). Was wondering if i was able to get american netflix while using a VPN? also how does it effect video games (i.e WoW ) where your location is tracked.
