Hongkongers using tiananmen square as their example

Hong Kong Protests

I can understand if the Chinese use tiananmen square in their campaign for injustice but I can't wrap my head around the Hongkongers using it as their poster child and how they are fighting for the same thing for the Chinese people in China for two reasons:

  1. They don't recognize themselves as the people of China.

  2. They are discriminating af towards mainlanders in HK regardless of their political stance.

I still remember the scene where the JP Morgan Chinese employee in HK got attacked for saying that "we are all Chinese" in an appeal for peace. And also rioters mindlessly attacking mainland tourists who just wanna have a good time in HK. So wth, pls stop using tiananmen square as your poster child or example since it is obvious you're not doing it for them. But instead manipulating it for your own cause.
