Newbie to woodworking, trying to make the grain 'pop'

I have a large 10' x 16" piece of red oak that I am going to use as a bar. I'm trying to make the grain pop but I don't know how to do that and reading about wood dyes like the one keda makes has left me even more confused.

I want to use black because it will make the grain pop but also darken the wood a bit. I've seen videos of applying it by mixing with acetone, using a wood filler and then sanding, and using a sprayer (which I don't have access to unless a weed sprayer counts lol).

Any suggestions on how to go about this and achieve good results?

Edit: Planning to finish with high gloss polyurethane but I'm open to other suggestions as well (high gloss ones at least)
