AITA for ruining my friend’s burgers?
My friends like to hang out, drink and play Call of Duty at one’s house. We go there pretty often, at least we did before, and take turns while getting drunk. Then we sleep there.
Usually we’ll make food that my friend has bought. Burgers or sausages.
The other night, my friend put burgers on the barbecue outdoors, and I assumed he was cooking. I’m not much of a cook and have been notorious for burning burgers.
He came back in though, and started drinking and talking to his dad at the table. So did our other friend. After a few minutes, the son of the homeowner asked me to go check on the burgers, so I did. I then came back in and joined them.
I’ll admit I should have asked, but I just thought he wanted me to check on them once. They got to drinking more and seemed to forget the burgers or assumed I was now responsible which I wasn’t aware of.
In the end, the burgers got really burned because nobody checked them after me, and everyone got mad at me. I felt horrible because I was basically thought of as having wasted his or his dad’s hard earned food. Nobody would eat the burgers, and his dad seemed mad.
Was i the asshole? Should I still feel bad about this?
