Fancy Footwork not working?

When I tried this badge in the past it never popped up on screen so I couldn’t tell if it was working or not. I recently put it on gold to try on my new build and after a couple games I only saw it flash on screen two times. I did a ton of hop steps, euros, step backs, and spins but I only saw it activate on one hop step layup.

Does anyone know if there is something I’m missing or is this badge working in the background and I am not noticing since the badge doesn’t pop up? The funny thing is on the two times it popped up I went back and watched the replay and the hop steps were really week and short, like worse than before adding the badge at all. But those are the two that the badge flashed on screen so I don’t know what to think.

Thanks
