I don't mean to be rude but..

What the fuck is up with this community? Seriously I don't get it.

For years I've been reading countless discussions and seeing an endless stream of requests for Atmospheric Landing and Space Legs. People constantly complaining that they're the most important yet missing feature of the game.

Well we've just witnessed the biggest reveal yet from FDev and all I see are negative comments, sarcasm and hate towards it. Even the most excited comments are approaching it with utter care in the form of 'Yea this looks promising but I'm not holding my breath'.

Do you have any idea the complexity behind letting you land on a planet? Let alone adding an atmosphere and the physics behind it which will affect your ship's entire flight controls? Do some of you realize that this game was intended to be a pure Space Simulator? And that FDev are literally changing the basic design of the entire game in order to give the fans and the community what they've been asking for?

And they're not doing it for a planet or two like Star Citizen but literally all planets in the galaxy, imagine that, you can access and land on literally every planet out there, this game just got infinitely bigger (Personally I can't wait to land on Earth). And let's not even talk about everything else they've got in stored for us on these planets, from diverse bioms to various missions.

So what is this hate that I'm seeing? Is this how a community supports the development team?

Say what you will about Star Citizen's community but they are certainly not as toxic as this one. The majority of them have been very supportive of that literal piece a shit of a game for 8 whole years and they'd probably continue to support it for another 8.

Honestly I'm very disappointed in the reactions I'm seeing, you gotta give FDev the benefit of the doubt, you gotta show excitement and tell the dev team, we can't fucking wait to see what you've got in store for us!!!

I do apologies for the tone of the post, I guess I'm just venting off because I used to be a developer and now a manager so I have a lot of experience with putting hard work into SW dev with no real appreciation from the customer. I guess I'm just venting off because I'm projecting things. These comments show a community that's disappointed because they care about the game and its future and FDev have been screwing it over the years. But I still think they deserve the benefit of the doubt as well as our faith and support to them, I really hope they do something great with this.
