One shot?

Was just in a standard battle and I was using the Phoenix and I came across a Konig. I got a couple salvos in him and he got a glancing hit (barely any damage) with his first Salvo. He sent out the second Salvo and instantly sank me. I've taken hits from Konigs before, hell I've taken full salvos from those Russian battleships before with the Phoenix and have never been one shot sunk. But this guy completely destroyed me with one salvo from full health and I don't know if I should be impressed or pissed off. I've gotten a Kraken kills before, but that was on a destroyer close range with the Lvl III Russian Battleship (Golgan I think it is) in a AI battle.

Also why are ships so much harder to kill in pvp standard battles than on the AI battles? I can clean house in AI battles but don't do as much damage on standard battles even when I land the majority of my shots.
