Question For Time Travelers

Okay, I'm debating on time traveling to get my dreamies, but I don't want to stay in the "future" (*insert that squidward meme*). Could I go and get rid of my most hated characters and let the new ones move in and go back and still have them? Just wondering bc my characters are just like, "LOVE IT HERE" and I'm just not into it. Thanks in advance.
