General advice for a struggling sniper?

This is a fairly general question, not 100% related to this sub maybe, but I'd rather get advice from here. I am a high gold/low plat Caitlyn main that can't seem to climb regardless of KDA/damage delt/vision score etc..obviously implying that my macro needs some attention. I have no questions for matchups/laning phase, but specifically as Caitlyn, how can I play the macro game better as opposed to just dominating bot lane and catching waves/not forcing fights if my team behind. I genuinely don't have a good macro sense for the game - I've climbed strictly off of mechanics til this point, and I have hit a wall.
