My platinum game stopped saving

I have a legit copy of platinum that I’ve had for years. I recently booted it up again to play only to find out my save file had disappeared. So I started a new game saved only to turn it back on and find it didn’t save. So I thought let’s delete the saved data anyway just to make sure there isn’t some kind of glitch with corrupt data. I did that. Started a new game, saved the game and same result. What’s going on? Can I fix this?
