Where Should I Go Record?
Hey gang!
Kind of an open question for you all. I've been making music for my whole adult life and for almost all of that I've been in a small apartment or sharing a space. Historically, when I wanted to go somewhere where I could record vocals or any instruments louder than an acoustic guitar, I'd get a hotel room in the middle of nowhere, ask for a room far from anyone, and tried to not really 'let loose' so as to not disturb anyone.
I'm almost done with 10 tracks I'm immensely proud of and it just needs a little more live edge and some vocals (very self-conscious singer here). I've looked into AirBNBs but haven't found anywhere I would really feel great about. I've got plenty of vacation time and a modest budget for 3-4 days. By modest I mean, "enough to spend a long weekend and sleep/record in a space" but not, "pay a day rate on a proper studio and then crash in a Holiday Inn."
Any creative ideas on where I could go, bring an amp and some mics and maybe even some drums, and be able to yell my guts out without feeling too self-conscious?
I'm in the midwest. Let's say I could blow $500-$750 on the whole weekend.
