Just got the one ton steering kit. Only cost me a weekend and a small fortune in drill bits

Looks good! Be careful with that jack stand in the background - Harbor Freight has just recalled those because of faulty welds they are not safe.
The recall was not due to welds. It was due to the cast teeth not interfacing properly with the lock. The photo of the one stand with a split weld going around is suspect as some have said they slammed something much heavier on it to make it fail and then setup the photo op.
Thanks for the info - I’ve edited my comment. Regardless these jack-stands are unsafe.
Simple as it looks huh? I would figure it's easy to install 2 long bars across lol
How's the on-road feel for this setup? Assuming you had the deteriorating stock steering prior to this swap, of course.
I'll let you know got a few more parts coming in before she's back on the road
Are you replacing the track bar too?
Eventually I'm gonna get the Rubicon express one but for now if my steering is solid I'm gonna run this
What happens if you break it on the trail far from home? How hard is it to locate rod ends and other parts? That is one of the reasons I have stayed with setups that use stock type TREs.
They are less safe because you got three stress points holding everything together. But the bolts are huge and if you use some red locktight should hold together just fine long term
4 pack of heims from cavfab arent expensive. I keep an extra set
I got a nice reemer when I installed my steering kit. My drilled died so I welded the bit to a 11mm socket and tossed it on my impact. That was one hell of a workaround but it made quick work of the remaining holes I had to reem lol.
Yeah went through two harbor freight drills for the pitman arm, good idea with the impact
Who's did you go with?
It's a cavfab one ton steering kit
Cool. I need to do all the front end linkage and was looking for something heavier duty.

Definitely going to pick this up. I bent my tie rod yesterday and o'rileys wanted $150 for a stock replacement. Definitely not worth.
I like simplicity - what are the parts? Where is searing amortization? :D
I'm not exactly sure what that is
Isn't that when you give an animal human like features?
Looks like new rotors too
Nothing about this is one ton. People call it that when using one ton TREs. This is just crossover with heims.

If a drill bit doesn't say "Made in USA", it probably isn't suitable for anything harder than wood.
Haha funny enough the DeWalt black and gold worked much better than the Milwaukee titanium
I have an impact from them, not impressed with Wilfuckyee's modern quality. Probably try Dewilt if I can't fix the thing myself.
Or Germany.
