What else can we do for Brink? Let's start getting soliciting more valid reviews.
This may or may not work, I'm not sure, but it's sure as hell is worth a try.
Arguably, the first thing someone does these days before they buy a game (or anything, for that matter), is read reviews. The most common for games are from that of IGN, Joystiq, Gamespot, Gamespy, and AtomicGamer (missing a few I'm sure).
Four of the five reviewers in the previous mentioned previously clearly didn't give Brink a chance, and this upsets me, because I sure as hell did. I know you all did too. And we're not alone. There are way more people who like Brink than hate it - and I'm sure after the support SD has shown, the ratio will only grow and grow.
The Metacritic score is a big one - especially for a game on Steam. It's the first thing people really see that's "factual" about a game, the review rating. It's powerful.
Pause: Just asked myself why do I care so much. I don't know. Continuing:
With that powerful number comes a really decisive answer from most gamers because they're impulsive, lazy, usually fat (love you anyway), and don't want to do much other than dictate their opinion about the game based off of that stupid number. Well, I want to change that.
I want to make sure everyone is playing the game we're playing today. It's not fair to the developers, the communities, the notyetbrinkies, to solely be shown a number that doesn't represent the game at all. Because that's what it does, guys. It represents the game. It represents a game that I've been following for two years. It represents a game that made my life seem to last twice as long for a whole two weeks before release.
It's been just over a week since we all played the really shitty version of the game, and things are improving greatly and at a steady pace. If there are few objects, I'd really like us all to let our voices (thoughts, duh), be heard on every monitor of each reviewer - I don't care if they reviewed Brink and for some god-awful reason they reviewed the release candidate 100/100 - maybe they'll give it it a 150/100 now - I don't fucking know. But let's show them that this isn't the game they reviewed a week ago, because clearly the articles people read, the review videos people watch, are giving all of us a bad rep.
I digress.
TL;DR - I have my man period. I'm pissed at the Metacritic score being so low, among other reviews. I want to coordinate a plan that encourages reviewers to rethink and reevaluate Brink. I will need some help. Who is with me?*
