Design: We need Reinforcement
Site team: YOU SON OF A BITCH, I'M IN!!
oh man, those guys right next to the cage and hanging on to it are freaking me out.
Decent sized D-wall
Dumb question, what is this for?
Probably for a diaphragm wall. I worked on the design of one of these before for a river bank protection project.
At first I thought, "I've seen bigger sections." Then the camera started panning up. The only time I've seen that much bar was some big mat foundations, but they were mostly tied in place.
how much concrete will you need ?
yes
How will concrete be even poured into this? Even pouring through boom placers won't be able to prevent segregation if poured from the top. Self compacting conrete through the sides, if the reinforcement isn't that dense?
Just as a FYI this is a diaphragm wall panel in the ground not a wall element above ground that is formed and cast.
You then also realise the concrete they are standing on is the guide wall for the trench. That trench is full with bentonite and is as deep as that cage is tall. Would not want to fall in.
You'd likely float. You still don't want to fall in it. I saw a guy on his phone not paying attention to where he was walking step into a bentonite slurry cut off trench at a mine reclamation job. He sank to just a bit over his waist.
Ahh okay. Thanks for the info! I had my suspicions that it was a diaphragm wall, but I have never seen one this deep so I didn't really think of it.
That and vibrating the concrete. You gotta form up the wall. This looks so scary.
Self compacting concrete won't need compaction through vibration. That's one problem solved.
Oooo awesome. Thanks for the response!
Even if it wasn't a diaphragm wall, it looks like there is enough room in the inside to get a tremie down it.
