my mom wants the same attitude i have towards my dad
im a 17 y/o girl and im pretty close with my mom, i like that i can express my thoughts and feeling to her and rant about it even if i get lectured after. But my mom lately has been saying that she wants the same attitude and behavior i give my father. I hate my father and im scared of him, im always tense around him, always extremely aware of how i talk and be around him( reasons i do not want to explain), but my mom wants the same thing.
For example i would be talking and then she says “ you wouldnt talk to your father like that”, also she is well aware that i dont like my father, i have said multiple times in the past that i hate him to her.
Maybe she wants me to listen to her words without any question or disrespect? i do admit that when she says to do something i question about it, but lets admit it what teenager wouldn’t? But with my father i just do as i told.
I questioned her before on what to do, but she would give me a straight answer.
i want advice on what to do? do i keep quiet around my mom? i tried that before and i just cant, does anyone have any advice on how to be quiet? or what to do?
Thank you

I would talk to her about it. It sounds like she would like more respect. Explain that you talk to her differently because you're closer and trust her. Let her know that you feel safe with her and can be yourself. Then, I would really think about your tone with her going forward and do your best to be respectful. Let her know that your attitude isn't because you disrespect her and that you'll work on it.
As a mom it's important to me (and means a lot) that my kids can came to me with anything, but at the same time it stings like hell when they're harsh.
If you're being critical, disagreeing, or arguing, think about your tone and words before you say them. Respond like you would respond to a best friend or coworker. For some reason, we sometines treat others better than the ones we love most.
