Curly cut for the clueless?

Struggling with my frizzy thick mane with 'lots of body' I decided to give the CGM a go around March/April. And.. well ... It can curl/wave.

Despite all of my YouTube, IG, and blog readings I just remain uncertain about my hair. I like it more this way, but am I just forcing it to do a thing? Am I doing the thing right? Am I even using the right products?! When should I scrunch? Is this cast right? Why is it so tangled?

I decided to book an appointment with a local curly hair stylist. I'm to show up with clean, dry, untangled hair to an 90+ min appointment for 120$.

The appointment is suppose to be really instructive, but it'll be my first time visiting a curly hair expert and I'm nervous. Up until now I've treated my hair as thick straight hair with some 'body'. What if my hair isn't curly enough for her to really care?

Bringing me to this question. What has y'alls experience with curly hair stylists? What are they like and how would they approach an absolute novice whose just trying to figure it all out? For y'all was it worth it to talk to an expert?

I’ve now been 3 times to a curly specialist. The first time was really worth it. This last time, I realized I’ve hit the point where I’m better at styling my hair than she is. That’s huge! It’s not meant to be an insult to her. It’s a compliment to myself and to everyone here who helps guide this community. Even though I’m better at styling, I’m still so thankful to have her great cuts.

I think you’ll love your experience!
